Days Out

The John Lewis Partnership opens the garden twelve times a year during the spring and summer to raise money for charity. The third Sunday in June is usually reserved for the National Garden Scheme, while the other open days benefit local charities and good causes.

The garden's international reputation means that there are also requests for visits from horticultural societies around the world - around 60 groups of horticulturists come on booked tours each year. The carefully mown grass walks provide access for visitors in wheelchairs, and families with young children are welcome.

Once you've visited the water garden there is still a great deal more to see. If you walk up through Longstock's fine arboretum you come upon Longstock Park Nursery, with its large collection of unusual wall-plants, magnificent herbaceous border and 100-yard arch twined with roses and clematis.
