With its varied habitats, the garden provides the
ideal environment for cultivating a great
diversity of water-loving plants.Aquatics like the water
violet, shallow-water marginal plants like
flowering rushes, bog plants like primulas -
you'll often find numerous varieties of a single
species, as well as some very rare specimens.
There are over eighty different types of water
lily alone.
Many of these
plants, including unusual varieties, are
propagated by Longstock Park Nursery, so that
visitors can enjoy them in their own gardens.
The nursery is
also home to the NCCPG National Collection of
Buddleia - there are over 100 different
varieties, many of which are displayed for sale
in the nursery's beds. If you would like to look
round the collection when you visit, just ask our
staff for directions. We can propagate some of
the rare and tender varieties to order. The
nursery has a vast selection of plants, including
a wide choice of aquatic and water-loving
species. And, while you're deciding which plants
to take home as a souvenir of your visit, you can
enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in the nursery's tea
room.
